Sport Overview
The Rugby Union Program
Rugby Union is one of the cornerstone sports within the Guildford Grammar School co-curricular program. It is a game that demands physicality, technical skill, tactical awareness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to playing for the teammate beside you.
The Guildford Grammar School Rugby Program has a proud tradition within the PSA competition. That tradition is sustained through the high standards and values upheld across every age group—from students beginning their rugby journey in the JPSSA to senior players representing the School in the PSA competition.
The program adopts a holistic approach to player development, focusing on technical skills, physical preparation, tactical understanding, game awareness, leadership, and teamwork. Beyond developing capable rugby players, the program aims to foster character, discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of community and belonging.
Throughout the year, Guildford Grammar Rugby provides students with a broad range of opportunities to develop and compete. Where possible, and in consideration of students’ wider sporting commitments, teams participate in additional competitions, festivals, development fixtures, and representative opportunities that complement the PSA season and enhance each player’s growth and experience.
