The Soccer Program

At Guildford Grammar School, our soccer program is more than just a sport—it’s a community where students build confidence, form meaningful friendships, and develop a lifelong passion for the game.

We welcome players of all abilities and provide a structured coaching environment that emphasises teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and school pride. Our coaches are committed to developing each student’s technical ability while fostering resilience, character, and a genuine love of the game. Every player is supported, challenged, and encouraged to achieve their personal best.

Our coaching philosophy is underpinned by a comprehensive coaching matrix for each age group, aligned with the Four Corner Model. This approach develops players across four key areas: technical skill, tactical understanding, psychological growth, and social development, ensuring a well-rounded experience both on and off the pitch.

Every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. Whether aspiring to elite pathways or simply enjoying the game with friends, every player is valued as an important member of our soccer community.

Training is structured around the PSA competition schedule. Students in Years 7–9 train on Monday and Wednesday before Friday afternoon fixtures, while Years 10–12 train on Tuesday and Thursday ahead of Saturday morning matches. Optional development sessions are available throughout the week for students seeking additional training opportunities. During the winter term, teams also compete in SSWA and ACC competitions, providing an extensive and rewarding games program across the season.

Our junior players in Years 5 and 6 participate in a weekly morning training session and represent the School in the JPSSA competition on Thursday afternoons.

With soccer participation continuing to grow each year, Guildford Grammar remains committed to providing a program that develops the whole person. We strive to create an environment where every student can improve their skills, deepen their understanding of the game, and enjoy being part of a positive and supportive soccer community.
