A Guide for GGS Sport Families
Always Check First
Clipboard Is the Authoritative Source
Clipboard is the primary operational system for all student-specific sport information -fixtures, team notices, training changes, venue updates, wet weather decisions and cancellations.
Families must be registered on Clipboard with notifications active for their child’s sport throughout the season. This website provides a public reference – it is not the authoritative operational source.

Participation
Training & Fixture Expectations
Participation in School Sport is a compulsory part of student life at Guildford Grammar School for students in Years 5-12.
Attendance
Be There
Students are expected to attend all scheduled training sessions and fixtures. Absences must be communicated through the appropriate school absence process in advance.
Consistent attendance supports team preparation and selection integrity. Repeated unexcused absences will be raised with the student, family and Head of House.
Selection
How Selection Works
In competitive codes, students are selected on both ability and attitude. For most sports, students can move between teams based on improvement in performance.
Coaches are happy to provide students with feedback on selection decisions. Parents are asked to work in partnership with coaches and provide positive messages to students navigating selection outcomes.
Pre-Season Clinics
Camps & Clinics
Pre-season clinics and camps held during school holidays – although beneficial for skill development – are not a compulsory element of the Sport program.
Non-attendance at pre-season activities will not adversely affect selection in any sport.
Student Welfare
Medical & Injury
The School has a dedicated on-site Medical Centre with Registered Nurses present Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm during term time. On-call support is available outside these hours.
For on-call medical support during off-campus sport when the Medical Centre is closed, the contact number is (08) 9377 9211. This service diverts to a mobile after hours and is available 24/7.
Parents should ensure student medical information is current through the School’s official systems. Any medical conditions, medication requirements or injury limitations must be communicated to the Sports Office before participation where they may affect training, fixtures or travel.
Concussion Protocol
If Concussion Is Suspected
- When there is any doubt following a collision, the student sits out immediately. Coaches attend a concussion workshop at the start of each season.
- Follow-up with a medical professional is required. Written documentation confirming understanding of the return-to-learn and return-to-play protocol must be provided before resuming full-contact sport.
Injury Management
Injured Students
Students with injuries preventing fixture participation continue to attend games to maintain team connection. Two supervised rehab sessions run weekly at the Barber Fitness Centre for students with physio programs.
Preparation
Uniforms & Equipment
Students are expected to wear the correct GGS sport uniform for all training sessions, fixtures, carnivals and representative events. Only GGS sports uniform is to be worn when participating in and travelling to sport.
Some sports require specific protective equipment. Families should review requirements before the start of each season. Where requirements differ by team level or age group, the relevant sport staff or Clipboard will communicate what is needed.
Core Requirement
GGS Uniform Only
Only GGS sports uniform is to be worn during participation. Tracksuit to and from fixtures is required for all students.
1st Team
Selected Team Items
Each sport has a unique 1st Team uniform with the gold Fleur de Lis crest.
Second-Hand
Clothing Shop In-Store
Second-hand uniform availability is managed by the Clothing Shop in store. Contact the shop directly to enquire.
Compliance & Conduct
Codes of Conduct
All members of the GGS community – players, staff, coaches, officials, spectators and parents – are required to adhere to the standards and expectations of each competition. Sport is at its best when played and watched in positive spirit and with genuine sportsmanship.
Students
Student Conduct
- Respect opponents, officials and teammates at all times.
- Reflect GGS values in every training session, fixture and representative event.
- Compete hard and with integrity – pride and determination within the rules.
- Seek feedback from coaches when disappointed by selection decisions rather than directing frustration elsewhere.
- Look out for teammates – report injuries and concerns to the coach.
Parents & Guardians
Spectator & Parent Conduct
- Respect officials, opposition coaches, parents and players.
- Positive and encouraging behaviour only – no negative commentary directed at officials, coaches or students.
- Support your child with positive messages – particularly around selection decisions.
- Concerns during a game: wait until the fixture is over before raising them with staff, so coaches can maintain focus on students.
Feedback & Concerns
How to Raise a Concern
If you have feedback or concerns about any aspect of sport, follow this process:
- First: contact the relevant Head of Sport. Details are provided via Clipboard.
- At any stage: contact the Sports Office at sport@ggs.wa.edu.au or 08 9377 9235. Sports Staff will escalate appropriately.
- If the concern is of a sensitive matter, you may also contact the Director of Sport: david.guest@ggs.wa.edu.au
Operational Changes
EXTREME Weather PROCESS & cancellations
Extreme weather decisions, venue changes and cancellations are managed through Clipboard. Families should always treat Clipboard – not this website – as the authoritative source for cancellation and change notices.
Where changes occur close to departure or fixture time, updates may be issued at short notice. Keep notifications active throughout the season.
EXTREME Weather
Check Clipboard
All extreme weather decisions are communicated through Clipboard as early as possible. Check your notification close to the session time.
Venue Changes
Confirmed via Clipboard
Venue changes due to maintenance, clashes or competition requirements are communicated through Clipboard notifications.
Frequently Asked Questions
