The Year 4 sport Program

The Year 4 Sport program provides students with an exciting introduction to a wide variety of team sports, laying the foundations for the interschool sporting opportunities they will enjoy in Year 5 and beyond.

Throughout the year, students participate as a cohort in a diverse range of sports, developing fundamental movement skills, game awareness, teamwork, communication, resilience and confidence in a supportive and enjoyable environment. The program is designed to foster a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity while helping students build the skills and sporting knowledge required for future interschool competition.

Students take part in coach-led training sessions twice each week:

• Tuesday: 7.40am–8.40am (coinciding with Year 5/6 Sport)
• Wednesday: 1.45pm–3.15pm

To complement their training, students participate in seven half-day interschool carnivals throughout the year with Wesley College, with one to two carnivals held each term during school hours. These age-appropriate competitions provide students with valuable experience representing Guildford Grammar School, working as part of a team, and applying the skills they have developed in training in a positive and supportive environment.

Sports featured across the program include cricket, basketball, Australian Rules football, Try Tag Rugby, hockey, water polo and volleyball, ensuring students experience a broad range of sporting opportunities while discovering new interests and talents.
