Tournament Opportunity

Golf

Golf at GGS is a focused representative pathway rather than a weekly interschool sport. Senior students may be selected to represent the School at the PSA One Day Tournament and SSWA Golf competition, both held in Term 3.

GGS usually enters a group of six to eight students in the PSA event, competing in an Ambrose format, with the scores from the top three pairs contributing to the overall team result. The School may also enter teams or individuals in the All Schools Tournament where appropriate. Students wishing to be considered for these opportunities must have a current Golf Australia handicap and GOLF Link number.

Golf development is supported through the school’s practice green and golf hole on the Flats. GGS also has a partnership with Hartfield Golf Club, where Year 11 and 12 students can practise on Friday afternoons and receive support in the lead-up to representative competitions.

Surfing

Surfing at GGS is offered as a targeted PSA representative opportunity for male students, as well as a recreation-based Friday activity for senior students.

The School enters the PSA Surfing Carnival at Scarborough/Trigg Beach, held in the lead-up to the Term 2 mid-term break. GGS may select up to 12 competitors across senior surfing, senior bodyboard and junior bodyboard, with three students competing in each category. Judging is completed by peers from other schools, with combined scores determining the overall winner.

Programs That Widen Access
