Unbeaten 1st Soccer Boys set their Sights on Septembers ACC Finals

On Thursday 6 August, we took a team of Senior Boys to the ACC Boys Soccer Qualification Carnival – South B Division. The day consisted of five round-robin matches, with the top teams progressing through to the semi-finals.

The boys were outstanding throughout the carnival and should be extremely proud of their efforts. Across the five matches, Guildford Grammar School remained unbeaten, recording four wins and a draw to finish the qualifying rounds at the top of the South B Division.

The team got off to a strong start, defeating Kennedy Baptist College 2–0 in the opening round. They continued their momentum in Round 2, producing a confident 3–1 victory over Court Grammar School.

With two wins already on the board, the boys continued to build throughout the day. A disciplined 2–0 win over Ursula Frayne Catholic College in Round 3 was followed by the team’s most convincing performance of the carnival, with a dominant 5–0 victory against John Paul College, Kalgoorlie.

The final round saw the boys face Rehoboth Christian College. In a tightly contested match, neither side was able to find the back of the net, with the game finishing 0–0.

Across the five matches, Guildford scored 12 goals while conceding just one, a reflection of the team’s strong attacking play, defensive discipline and ability to remain composed throughout the day.

The result sees the Senior Boys progress to the ACC South B Division semi-finals, which will be held on 9 September at the Sam Kerr Football Centre. The opposition and match time are yet to be confirmed.

With a place in the Grand Final on the line, the boys will now have several weeks to prepare for what promises to be an exciting next stage of the competition. Should they progress through the semi-final, the Grand Final will be played on 23 September.

Congratulations to all players and staff involved on an excellent qualifying campaign. To go unbeaten across five matches, score 12 goals and concede just one is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the commitment, teamwork and character of the Senior Boys Soccer program.

The boys now turn their attention to September and the opportunity to take the next step towards an ACC Championship Soccer Title.
