Sport Overview

The Tennis Program

The GGS Tennis program is designed to foster a lifelong enjoyment of the game while supporting every player to reach their individual potential. Through quality coaching, regular competition and a strong focus on skill development, students are encouraged to build confidence, challenge themselves and continually improve their performance.

The Boys program provides a clear pathway from junior to senior tennis. Boys in Years 5 and 6 compete in the JPSSA competition on Friday afternoons, while students in Years 7–12 represent GGS in the PSA Saturday competition. Weekly training sessions focus on technical development, movement, singles and doubles tactics, match play and game awareness.

The Girls program offers students regular opportunities to train and compete throughout the summer season. Girls participate in Friday afternoon interschool fixtures against other local schools while also preparing for Tennis West competitions, including the Herbert Cup and Mursell Shield. Training is tailored to each age group, with an emphasis on developing sound technique, tactical understanding, match confidence and a love of the game.

Across the program, students are encouraged to demonstrate commitment, resilience, sportsmanship and teamwork. Whether they are new to tennis or striving to compete at the highest level, GGS Tennis provides a supportive environment where every player can develop their skills, represent the school with pride and enjoy the lifelong benefits of the sport.
