Sport Overview
The Football Program
Australian Rules Football at Guildford Grammar School has a proud and rich tradition, built on a commitment to excellence, development and creating lifelong memories for our students.
Our vision is to develop confident young people through football by providing an environment where students are challenged to compete, encouraged to grow and inspired to be part of something bigger than themselves. Whether students are developing their skills or pursuing representative football pathways, our program provides the coaching, support and opportunities to help every player reach their potential.
The Guildford Grammar Football Program caters for boys and girls from Years 5–12 through a structured development pathway focused on long-term growth. Students progressively develop their skills, game understanding, athletic performance and leadership while learning the importance of teamwork, resilience, discipline and accountability.
Our experienced coaching group is a key strength of the program, with coaches bringing extensive AFL, WAFL and high-performance experience. A consistent coaching philosophy across all year groups ensures students experience a clear pathway from Junior School through to senior football.
The Boys Football Program begins in Years 5 and 6 through the JPSSA competition before progressing into the highly competitive PSA competition throughout Years 7–12. Senior students also compete in the ACC Football Competition, providing further opportunities for development and match experience.
The Girls Football Program continues to grow, offering students from Years 5–12 opportunities to compete in the WA Football Metro Central Competition and ACC fixtures. With specialist coaching, strong development opportunities and partnerships with organisations such as the West Coast Eagles, the program supports students aspiring to progress into WAFL Rogers Cup and representative pathways.
Beyond football skills, the program places a strong emphasis on athletic development through strength and conditioning, recovery, nutrition and performance education. This holistic approach helps students maximise their potential while developing habits and values that extend beyond the sporting field.
At Guildford Grammar, football is about more than winning games. It is about developing character, building relationships and creating an environment where students enjoy representing their School, supporting their teammates and striving to improve.
Whether a student is aspiring to play First XVIII football, pursue elite pathways or simply enjoy being part of a team, Guildford Grammar Football provides an environment where every player is supported to grow, succeed and become the best version of themselves.
