GGS Takes on Trinity in the Katich–Moody Shield
It was a fantastic day of cricket as Guildford Grammar School’s Year 5 and 6 cricketers took on Trinity College in the annual Katich–Moody Shield, showcasing their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship in a competitive contest.
After winning the toss, Trinity set Guildford a challenging target, finishing their innings at 7/197. Guildford’s players worked hard in the field, producing an impressive team performance that included five catches and two run-outs. The team showed great commitment and determination throughout the innings, with Javier delivering a standout performance in the field.
Chasing 198 for victory, Guildford made a promising start with the bat. Captain Max led from the front, scoring an impressive 43 runs from 53 balls and providing a strong foundation for the innings. Tanner and Leo also contributed with the bat as Guildford worked to build momentum against a disciplined Trinity bowling attack.
Despite their efforts, Guildford finished on 9/93, with Trinity College claiming the Katich–Moody Shield.
While the result did not go our way, the match provided a valuable opportunity for our young cricketers to test themselves against strong opposition, develop their game awareness and experience the challenges of competitive cricket. The team should be proud of the effort, commitment and sportsmanship they displayed throughout the day.
Congratulations to Trinity College on winning the shield, and well done to all our Year 5 and 6 cricketers for their efforts and sportsmanship throughout the match and representing Guildford Grammar School with pride.
