Guildford Girls Continue to Shine Across WA Football

Girls football on the rise

The future of girls football at Guildford Grammar School continues to look incredibly bright, with our students achieving success across school, community and representative football.

Most recently, Lily, Charlotte and Madi represented Guildford as members of the ACC All-Stars team at the Inter-Association Carnival. The team defeated both IGSSA and SSWA to secure the ACC’s fourth consecutive carnival title.

After a strong opening win against IGSSA, the girls faced a fresh SSWA team immediately afterwards. Despite trailing at half-time, ACC lifted its pressure and work rate to produce an outstanding second half and complete an unbeaten day.

Special recognition goes to Madi, who was selected in the ACC All-Stars team for the third consecutive year. She was again one of the standout players at the carnival, kicking four goals and providing a strong presence across the ground.

Lily, Charlotte and Madi also enjoyed success with Swan Districts this year, helping the club win the WAFLW Rogers Cup Premiership.

There has also been some excellent individual recognition in the Metro Central competition. Florence finished runner-up in the Year 7/8 Best and Fairest, while Rylie won the Year 11/12 Best and Fairest Award.

Rylie, Lily and Sierra were also selected in the WA Football Metro Central Team of the Year before representing the region at the RDC Showcase against Metro North and Metro South.

Perhaps the strongest sign of the program’s progress is the number of students now entering recognised football pathways. More than 15 Guildford girls are currently involved in WAFLW development programs across Swan Districts, East Perth and Perth Football Club.

These achievements are a fantastic reward for the commitment of the girls and a reflection of the continued growth of the Guildford Grammar Football Program.

More girls are taking up the game, more are progressing into representative pathways and more Guildford students are being recognised among the leading young footballers in Western Australia.

With a strong group of current players and another exciting generation coming through, there is plenty to look forward to in the future of girls football at Guildford Grammar.
