Guildford Grit Delivers Dramatic SSWA Knockout Victory

The Guildford Grammar School 9/10 Boys Soccer Team has continued its impressive 2026 SSWA Championship campaign, advancing to the Quarter Finals following a thrilling 2–1 victory over Emmanuel Christian Community School in the Round of 16.

After successfully progressing through the pool stage, the team entered the knockout rounds with confidence and determination. Earlier in the competition, GGS produced a strong run of results, defeating Morley SHS 3–2, drawing 1–1 with Ballajura Community College, and finishing the pool stage with a convincing 2–0 win over Swan View SHS to secure their place in the finals.

The Round of 16 clash against Emmanuel Christian Community School was a true test of character. Guildford dominated large periods of the match and built a well-deserved lead, controlling possession and creating numerous opportunities. However, with only two minutes remaining, Emmanuel CC found an equaliser to level the scores and set up a tense finish.

Showing tremendous resilience and the trademark Guildford Grit, the boys continued to push forward in the dying moments of the match. With just seconds remaining, the team launched one final attack and found the decisive goal to secure a dramatic 2–1 victory.

The result was a fantastic reward for the squad’s effort, composure, and belief under pressure. The team now progresses to the Quarter Finals of the 2026 SSWA Championships, where they will look to continue their pursuit of championship success.
