STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS FOR GGS EQUESTRIAN TEAM

Our GGS Inter school Equestrian Team capped off an outstanding season with a remarkable performance at the 2026 Stallion Rail WA Inter School State Championships, held in April at the State Equestrian Centre. With 20 riders representing the School across dressage, show jumping, eventing and combined training, the team once again demonstrated why GGS is regarded as one of Western Australia’s leading school equestrian programs.

Led by Equestrian Captain Lieve, the team enjoyed an exceptional season built on dedication, teamwork and a genuine passion for the sport. Lieve’s leadership helped foster a supportive and high-performing team culture, with riders encouraging one another both in and out of the arena. After establishing a home base in the stables—complete with plenty of snacks for both horses and riders—the team created an atmosphere that reflected the strong friendships and camaraderie that have become a hallmark of GGS equestrian.

Throughout the championships, our riders showcased exceptional skill, determination and sportsmanship, producing one of the school’s strongest State Championship campaigns in recent years.

The championships delivered an impressive list of team achievements, with GGS claiming:

• Champion Secondary School – Jumping (Georgia, Lily, Emma and Ruby)
• Reserve Champion School – Eventing (Sienna, Amelia, Indy and Noah)
• Champion Primary Team – Jumping Composite (Sienna)
• Champion Primary Team – Combined Training Composite (Sienna)
• Reserve Champion Overall Secondary School (Indy, Noah, Amelia and Ruby)

The show jumping arena proved to be a particular highlight for GGS, with Sienna, Emma, Ruby, Lily and Georgia all winning their individual classes, with several riders also claiming Champion honours in their respective height divisions. One of the standout moments of the championships came during Lily’s final round, where she and Belcam Cerento produced a spectacular clear round over a challenging 120cm course to secure the title of Champion Senior Secondary 120cm and finish the event in style.

Individual honours continued to flow throughout the championships. Lily was crowned State Champion Show Jumping Rider, while Sienna was recognised as Champion Primary Rider, capping off an exceptional championship campaign.

Our riders also enjoyed outstanding success in the Off The Track awards:

• High Point Dressage – 1st: Indy
• High Point Jumping – 3rd: Amelia
• High Point Eventing – 3rd: Indy
• Overall High Point Off The Track: Indy and Trainorz Espresso

The team’s consistency across the season was further recognised in the Eventing Series Overall standings:

• 80cm Primary – 1st: Sienna
• 80cm Secondary – 3rd: Indy, 5th: Noah, 7th: Ruby
• 1* Secondary – 1st Amelia

Lieve and Sylvania Montgomery also enjoyed pleasing dressage performances throughout the championships, while Indy and Trainorz Espresso delivered another outstanding performance to feature among the competition’s leading combinations.

The championships also highlighted the resilience and team spirit that defines the GGS equestrian program. Unfortunately, Charlotte and Bridie were forced to withdraw shortly before the event. Despite being unable to compete, Charlotte attended every day, generously helping teammates by plaiting and presenting horses, demonstrating the selfless commitment and support that makes the team so special. We look forward to seeing both riders back in action with Bounty and Joker next season.

These outstanding results are a testament to the dedication of our riders, the unwavering support of their families, the expertise of our coaches and the hard work that has gone into another successful season. Competing against the best school riders from across Western Australia, every member of the GGS team represented the School with pride, determination and outstanding sportsmanship.
